About the Gentle Crown Mandala
The Gentle Crown Mandala is a 10-fold crown mandala: every motif repeats 10 times around the center. It is built from 5 rings of layered petals, spikes, dots, petals and scallops, from a small flower in the middle to the wide outer border.
This is a medium mandala with more and smaller spaces – ideal for teens and adults who enjoy a longer, mindful coloring session. Most people finish it in about an hour or more with fine-tip markers or sharp colored pencils.
How to Color This Mandala
Start in the center and work outwards ring by ring, so your hand doesn't smudge finished parts. Choose 3 to 5 colors and repeat them, so the mandala looks balanced.
- Layered petals: color the back layer a shade darker than the front layer so they look stacked.
- Spikes: pointed shapes look great with a gradient – dark at the base, light at the point.
- Dots: dots are perfect for a pop of accent color, like gold or a bright contrast.
- Petals: shade each petal darker at the base and lighter at the tip for a soft 3D look.
- Scallops: scalloped edges look pretty in a lighter shade of the ring next to them.
Color Ideas
- A royal palette works well: deep purple, gold and ruby red.
- Ocean: teal, turquoise, navy and sandy beige.
- Pastel: baby pink, mint, lilac and butter yellow.
Did You Know?
Ten-fold symmetry is less common, which gives this mandala a slightly unusual, star-like rhythm.
