About the Spring Lace Mandala
The Spring Lace Mandala is a 12-fold lace mandala: every motif repeats 12 times around the center. It is built from 5 rings of petals, dots, spikes and layered petals, from a small flower in the middle to the wide outer border.
This is a medium mandala with more and smaller spaces – ideal for teens and adults who enjoy a longer, mindful coloring session. Most people finish it in about an hour or more with fine-tip markers or sharp colored pencils.
How to Color This Mandala
Start in the center and work outwards ring by ring, so your hand doesn't smudge finished parts. Choose 3 to 5 colors and repeat them, so the mandala looks balanced.
- Petals: shade each petal darker at the base and lighter at the tip for a soft 3D look.
- Dots: dots are perfect for a pop of accent color, like gold or a bright contrast.
- Spikes: pointed shapes look great with a gradient – dark at the base, light at the point.
- Layered petals: color the back layer a shade darker than the front layer so they look stacked.
Color Ideas
- Soft, delicate colors fit the lacy look: cream, blush pink, sage and dusty blue.
- Autumn: rust, mustard, burgundy and copper.
- Ocean: teal, turquoise, navy and sandy beige.
