About the Bright Sun Mandala
The Bright Sun Mandala is a 12-fold sun mandala: every motif repeats 12 times around the center. It is built from 5 rings of teardrops, arches and spikes, from a small flower in the middle to the wide outer border.
This is a medium mandala with more and smaller spaces – ideal for teens and adults who enjoy a longer, mindful coloring session. Most people finish it in about an hour or more with fine-tip markers or sharp colored pencils.
How to Color This Mandala
Start in the center and work outwards ring by ring, so your hand doesn't smudge finished parts. Choose 3 to 5 colors and repeat them, so the mandala looks balanced.
- Teardrops: a tiny white spot left uncolored makes them look like shiny drops.
- Arches: color every second arch the same to create a rhythm around the ring.
- Spikes: pointed shapes look great with a gradient – dark at the base, light at the point.
Color Ideas
- Warm sunny colors bring out the rays: yellow, gold and orange from the center out, with a touch of red on the tips.
- Pastel: baby pink, mint, lilac and butter yellow.
- Monochrome: five shades of one color, from very light to very dark.
Did You Know?
Twelve-fold symmetry repeats each motif twelve times, like the hours on a clock face.
