About This Turkey Coloring Page
A happy turkey shows off its tail: seven big feathers fanned out in a half circle, each with a stripe in the middle. The turkey has a round body with a light belly, two wings, a pointy beak, a red wattle and skinny little feet. A few autumn leaves fall around it.
The big feathers make this the classic Thanksgiving coloring page for preschool and kindergarten.
Coloring Ideas
- Rainbow tail: give every feather a different color.
- Fall colors: red, orange and gold feathers with a brown body.
- Use two colors per feather – one for the outside, one for the stripe.
Did You Know?
Only male turkeys, called toms, gobble and fan out their tails like this. Wild turkeys can fly short distances and roost in trees at night.
Activity
Trace your child's hand on the back of the page and turn it into a handprint turkey to compare. Count the feathers together, then serve the turkey a slice of pumpkin pie.
