Free Printable Valentine Cards to Color

All of our Valentine's Day cards to color are made on one sheet of paper. The front of the card is on the bottom half of the page and the inside message is on the top half, upside down – so when you fold the paper, everything is the right way up. There is no cutting and no glue, which makes them perfect for kids.

Foldable Printable Valentines Day Cards to Color

Our foldable cards are the most popular kind of Valentines day coloring cards. Print the page, fold it in half along the dashed line and then in half again – the colored picture becomes the cover, and the inside has a word (LOVE or XOXO) plus two lines for your own message. The finished card is a quarter of a page, just the right size for a lunchbox, a classroom mailbox or an envelope.

Free Printable Children's Valentines Day Cards

These cards are designed for children: big, simple shapes, thick lines and short words. Toddlers and preschoolers can color the big hearts with crayons, while older kids can add patterns and write their own message. For a whole class, use the mini Valentine cards – four cards on one page means fewer pages to print.

How to Make a Valentine Card (Step by Step)

Making Valentine cards with kids takes about 15 minutes:

  1. Choose a card. Pick a picture for the person: a rose for mom, a teddy bear for a little brother, XOXO for a best friend.
  2. Print it. Use the PDF button on the card's page. Regular printer paper works; light cardstock (160–200 gsm) makes a sturdier card.
  3. Color the front. Crayons, markers, colored pencils or even watercolors all work.
  4. Fold it. Fold along the dashed line, then fold in half again.
  5. Write a message. Use the lines inside – and sign your name!
  6. Decorate. Add stickers, glitter glue, a ribbon or a paper doily.

Simple Valentine's Day Card Ideas

Short on time? A simple Valentine's Day card can be just as sweet:

  • Color only the hearts red and leave everything else white – clean and classic.
  • Use one color in three shades (light pink, pink, red) for a modern look.
  • Make easy Valentines day cards for the whole class with the mini cards: color, cut and hand out.
  • Tape a lollipop or a small candy to the front of the card.

Watercolor Valentine Cards

Our cards also work well with watercolors. Print on thick paper (mixed media or watercolor paper if your printer allows it), use very little water and paint one shape at a time, letting each one dry. The black lines keep the colors neatly apart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these Valentine cards free?

Yes. All our printable Valentine cards are free for personal use, at home and in the classroom.

How do I fold the card?

Fold the page in half along the dashed line (colored side out), then fold it in half again. The picture is the front of the card and the message lines are inside.

What paper is best for coloring Valentines cards?

Light cardstock (160–200 gsm) is best: it stands up, it feels like a real card and markers don't bleed through. Regular printer paper works too.
